Character Envy: If you could be one character from a book, who would you choose & why?
After just re-reading the book, I would say the character I would like to be is Skeeter from Kathryn Stockett's The Help. I chose Skeeter because given the time period when she lives, the 1960s, and where she lives, Mississippi, she is a strong woman going against the grain. Rather than just accepting the supposed thought that white people are better than African American people, which all of her friends believe, she realizes the groups should be equal. She takes on the task of writing a book from the point of view of the help, putting her life and career in jeopardy. Skeeter is strong, confidant, and successful.
